At Warminster School, OVs like Ben continue to enrich our community long after their days as a pupil. Since leaving in 2018, he now returns to support our music department at events like Cabaret.

His guidance and encouragement help our young musicians grow in confidence and discover a lasting love for music.

Ben shared: "It's always a treat to come back and help out the music department as an OV. As well as catching up with other OVs and the (remaining) teachers from my days at school, it's a joy to support the current roster of Warminster musicians. They are an incredible bunch, very talented, and great performers!

The music department has gone from strength to strength and is thriving under Mr. Bridges, so when I get a message to see if I'm free for Cabaret it's hard to say no!

I was going to Cabaret before I was even a pupil at Warminster. We went to see my brothers perform and I remember sitting in the sports hall watching the big band perform 'Birdland' (Maynard Ferguson) and seeing a Year 7 in the front row playing the saxophone thinking 'that looks so cool!'.

I can only hope that by visiting and helping out that I have in some way helped to encourage young musicians to stick at it or for others to pick up an instrument and give it a go. I did hear after one of my visits that a few new saxophonists started to emerge and it's a great feeling!

If you are able to come back and help out, don't pass it up. It's fun, it keeps you connected to the school, you get lunch, and hopefully you can help inspire some new musicians."
