____________
At Warminster School, we are committed to making a positive difference within our local and wider community. By sharing our resources, expertise, and opportunities, we work in partnership with state-funded schools, local community groups, and charitable organisations. These collaborations allow us not only to offer meaningful support but also to learn from others, enriching the experiences of our pupils and strengthening the communities we serve.
In this newsletter, you will discover the many ways our pupils have been involved in community engagement during the Summer Term, explore the exciting projects and events we have planned, and see how Warminster School continues to build strong and lasting connections within Warminster and beyond.
How Many Hours??
Since January, the pupils from year 10 & year 12 have been busy volunteering in numerous clubs during EDGE with a total of 4038 hours spent in our local community this year so far.
Minster Church Fete 2026
Warminster School was delighted to host the annual Minster Church Fete, a much-loved tradition that welcomes members of the local community for a day of fun, entertainment, and fundraising. The school also proudly hosted The Big Sing, bringing together 145 local primary school pupils for a joyful celebration of music and community. These events reflect the strong partnership between the School and the Minster Church and our commitment to supporting the local community.
Warminster Town Park
Warminster School pupils were delighted to brighten the town by planting a colourful flower bed in the town park. Now an annual tradition, the project gives pupils the opportunity to contribute to the local community while helping to create a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. Each year we are joined by Mr Carr OV who helps with the planting and tells his stories of his 22 years at Warminster School before he retired.
Charity Shops
As part of the Warminster School EDGE programme, pupils volunteer regularly at local charity shops, giving their time to support worthwhile causes within the community. From sorting donations to helping customers, pupils develop valuable life skills while making a positive contribution. The initiative has gone from strength to strength and now supports five local charity shops, strengthening our partnership with the community while encouraging pupils to embrace the value of volunteering.
Minster School Drama Club
Warminster School is proud to run a weekly Drama Club for local pupils, providing a fun and creative environment where they can develop confidence, performance skills, and teamwork. The club takes place at the Minster School and will culminate in a special performance of SIX on 9th July, giving the children the opportunity to showcase their talent and celebrate all they have achieved together. Update will follow in my next newsletter.
Summer News!!
Saturday 15 August sees the return of the popular Imber Bus Run, and Warminster School will once again be providing parking to support visitors attending the event. Last year, we were delighted to welcome Old Verlucians (OVs), former members of staff, and bus enthusiasts who travelled from all over the UK to take part. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces enjoying the day together, and we look forward to welcoming visitors back for another fantastic event this summer.
Warminster School is proud to support the U3A Art Group, Croquet Club, and Tai Chi Club by providing a welcoming location for their regular meetings. All three clubs will continue to meet throughout the summer, come rain or shine, offering members the opportunity to enjoy shared interests, develop new skills and socialise in the beautiful surroundings of the School. We are delighted to support these valued community groups and look forward to welcoming members throughout the summer months.
If you have any community projects within Warminster you think we could support or visit please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
I hope you have a fantastic Summer. I look forward to bringing you the next community newsletter at the end of the Winter Term
