Welcome to our Winter Term Community Newsletter !!!

At Warminster School, our mission is to actively engage with our community, leveraging our resources and expertise to collaborate with state-funded schools & local community groups, to learn from them and offer support to local, national, and international charitable organisations.

With this newsletter, you can find out what the pupils have been up to, what we have planned and how we engage with the local community in Warminster

How Many Hours??

Since September the pupils from year 11, 12 & 13, have been busy volunteering in numerous clubs during EDGE with a total of 1732 hours spent in our local community this year so far

Heritage Open Day

Warminster School opened the gates again this year for a tour of the school on the UK Heritage Open Day. We welcomed 17 visitors, who had traveled from as far as Oxford to be with us. This gives a chance for members of the public to come and find out more about us and to visit our archives.

Ashwood Home

There have been so many Art projects happen already this term, its hard to name just one. For Christmas the group have been making vintage scrapbook Christmas cards with the residents. This is not only lots of fun but for the dementia residents this helps with memories and sparks some wonderful conversations.

Dance Festival Club

Izzy Would one of our 6th Form pupils, has taken the lead on running a Dance Club at the Minster Primary School in Warminster. The children from the Minster will be performing at a local dance Festival in February, with the support from Izzy. I will bring you an update in my Spring Term Newsletter but we wish them all the luck for February.

Minster Church Christmas Tree Festival.

Felicity & Isis form the 6th form designed, made and setup our Warmister School tree to form part of the Minster Church Christmas Tree festival. Each year this event brings, schools, community groups and support groups together for the spirit of Christmas. The theme for our tree this year was "Alice in Wonderland"

CEOS Youth Summit

In 2024, we were approached by the UK Space Agency to take part in a new pilot scheme designed to bring school from around the world together through a shared passion for science. The project focused on how satellites can help us better understand our planet. For the first time, the Youth Summit was held in Bath, giving a group of our pupils the remarkable opportunity to present their work ad experience this unique and inspiring event.

Beyond Dementia

As a school we continue to support our local Dementia day center, The Old Silk Works. The Prep School regularly visit for fun, dancing and games. Senior school pupils go and perform, Alfie Crinion visited over the summer and performed. Hits from the Beatles were particularly popular. Singing and dancing is very much a normal day at the Old Silk Works!!

If you have any community projects within Warminster you think we could support or visit please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year I look forward to bringing you the next community newsletters at the end of the Spring Term.
