At Warminster School, our mission is to actively engage with our community, leveraging our resources and expertise to collaborate with state-funded schools, learn from them, and offer support to local, national, and international charitable organisations.
With this new newsletter, you can find out what the pupils have been up to, what we have planned and how we engage with the local community in Warminster
Since September the pupils from year 11, 12 & 13, have been busy volunteering in numerous clubs during EDGE with a total of 2385 hours spent in our local community.
This term, a group of pupils has been actively visiting local care homes to assist residents with various technology-related challenges. Their dedication and enthusiasm have brought about significant improvements and have helped bridge the gap between generations through technology.
The Warminster Buskers, a talented group of musicians and performers, are making a heartfelt impact in the Warminster community by bringing the joy of music to local care homes. This initiative not only provides entertainment but also fosters a sense of connection and well-being among residents.
We have been visiting Ashwood weekly since the start of our EDGE programme. Lots of different art projects happen each week, themed around events and celebrations. Pictured, is a project inspired by David Hockney. This project will form part of a window display in the homes coffee shop.
Crispin Thomas, also known as The Standup historian, delivered a captivating TA Talk that left the audience both enlightened and entertained. As part of the EDGE programme we support the RBL by working on the garden at the War Memorial and with collection buckets on Remembrance Sunday, so it was our pleasure to be able to help raise funds with this event. A total of £335 was raised on the night.
Henford House pupils have been busy this term with weekly visits to see the residents. They have played quizzes, board games, bingo and sung carols. The final week, as you can see, they had a visit from some festive reptiles, everyone had so much fun.
We look forward to continuing our visits in the New Year!
