Sixth Former, Ellie Gurung, is determined to raise awareness for a cause and charity very close to her heart and has modelled her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) around supporting Help for Heroes in her final year at Warminster and is hoping with a new date next term she can encourage participation from our community!
Ellie enthuses, “I want to use my EPQ time wisely by supporting something I felt passionately about. I’m raising money in aid of Help for Heroes and every donation will help. They gave incredible support to my mum as she has faced significant physical challenges, and the charity has been instrumental in helping her overcome some of those battles. Their dedication to aiding veterans and their families is deeply personal to me, and I’m passionate about giving back to an organisation that has done so much for my family. By raising funds, I hope to support them in continuing their vital work for those who have sacrificed so much.”
As we have come to learn, our Sixth Formers are known for their generous charitable acts and using their EPQs for worthwhile causes. The EPQ allows pupils to increase their depth of learning in an area of the curriculum of their choice and, above all, stresses the importance of skills such as: independent research, reflective learning, critical thinking, planning and organisation. We are super proud of Ellie for using her EPQ in this way. More information about the charity she is supporting can be found here.
Join Ellie, friends and family on Saturday 1 March, for a night of delicious food, great company, and giving back to our Heroes. Enjoy a fantastic evening while making a difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country. The evening contains a raffle, a guest speaker, and live music. Donations will be much appreciated and will all go to a good cause. Bookings will open later this term – watch this space!
Let’s come together to show our gratitude and support for our heroes.
