For those of us who remember, Thursday nights at 7:30 pm were synonymous with Tomorrow’s World, the iconic TV show that explored the latest scientific and technological advancements. Last night, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Maggie Philbin, one of the show’s most recognizable faces, to Warminster School for a TA Talk.
Maggie, now the head of TeenTech, delivered an inspiring talk that captivated everyone in attendance. TeenTech is an incredible organisation dedicated to helping young people, regardless of gender or background, discover the vast opportunities in science, technology, and engineering. At Warminster, we’re particularly proud of our Year 10 Design Technology GCSE pupils who enter the TeenTech Awards each year. Over the years, we’ve celebrated several finalists and even a few winners!
Maggie shared her fascinating journey, from her early days on Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, through her time on Tomorrow’s World, and to the founding of TeenTech in 2008. Her message of innovation and perseverance resonated deeply with our pupils, who left feeling inspired to pursue their own creative ideas.
Following the talk, Maggie graciously spent time at the Design Technology Society Dinner, encouraging our pupils to continue innovating and reminding them to stay in touch as they pursue their futures in technology.
It was a truly special evening, and we are immensely grateful to Maggie for sharing her time, stories, and invaluable insights.
