Music Scholars Alfie and Alex alongside Director of Music, Caroline Robinson, presenting a cheque for £542 to CEO Rosie Eliot, Wessex M.S. Therapy Centre.
Last Month, as a part of our wide-ranging music offering, the Music Department staged a showcase of some of their more modern groups at the ‘Rock, Pop, Jazz and Pies’ evening. £542 was raised for the Wessex M.S. Therapy Centre, from both ticket sales and a raffle on the night. The concert was a chilled-out evening of awesome music. From the opening energy of the Corps of Drums and 70’s vibes from the Ukulele Orchestra to the Close Harmony group delighting the audience with their perfect tuning and stunning acapella singing: there was something for everyone!
Alfie (pictured) performed with his own band, Flashback who wowed the audience with an outstanding rendition of the Blink 182 hit, All The Small Things. The warm tones and mellow sounds of the Big Band then transported the audience to a cool Jazz club.
Caroline Robinson said “After being Director of Music at Warminster for 13 years, this is a fitting close as I leave Warminster School as I am delighted to be able to raise funds to support the M.S Centre. One of the staff members within our Music Department has very close links with the charity, so it seemed an obvious choice for us to support them.”
Rosie Eliot the CEO of the charity said “We are thrilled to be supported by Warminster School and we welcome the very generous donation. We know how hard it is to put on a music event and we are always impressed by the hard work and dedication from the young people. Warminster school is a great supporter of local charities and we wish them all a long relaxing summer break.”
