We are thrilled to announce former Team GB hockey player, and Olympic Gold medalist, Alex Danson, will be joining us at our Gala Dinner on Saturday 23rd September to help us celebrate this wonderful occasion. 

The former Captain of the England and GB Hockey teams, Alex boasts an impressive hockey legacy with 203 caps for England and 103 caps for Great Britain. Following her retirement, she established the Alex Danson Hockey Academy, dedicated to promoting grassroots hockey. An Olympic Gold and Bronze medalist, as well as a Gold Commonwealth Games medalist, Alex’s career was unfortunately cut short by a head injury in 2018, leading to her retirement in 2020.

Debuting on the international stage at just 16, Alex’s hockey journey was marked by remarkable achievements. With over 115 goals for her country, she represented Team GB at the Olympics, securing Bronze in London 2012 and Gold in Rio 2016. Her collection of medals also includes three Bronze Commonwealth Games medals, multiple European Nations Cup honours, and a Bronze World Cup medal. Additionally, she received an MBE for her contributions to hockey. Alex’s popularity soared during the Rio 2016 Olympics, watched by millions. A four-time FIH World Player of the Year nominee, she’s been recognised with various awards, such as the 2011 UK Female Player of the Year.
