An important community health initiative took place at Warminster School on Saturday, 18th October, as more than 300 local men attended a free prostate cancer screening event organised by the Warminster Lions Club in partnership with the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust.

The event, hosted in the Thomas Arnold Hall, offered free blood tests to men aged between 40 and 80, helping to identify early signs of prostate cancer. In total, 324 men were tested during the day, marking one of the largest community health turnouts in recent years.

Warminster Lions Club President, Ros Harrison, praised the day’s success, saying:

“What a huge success Saturday’s prostate cancer screening has been. We have served our community exceptionally well by providing a lovely setting, thanks to the generosity of Warminster School, and a well-organised process and friendly atmosphere for all those who visited.”

The event was made possible thanks to the support of Warminster School and eight local companies who sponsored the testing. Ros added:

“There were many positive comments and compliments from everyone I spoke to, and it was a day that reminds us what it is to be a Lion and to be part of such a terrific team serving our local community.”

Warminster School was proud to play its part in hosting the event as part of its ongoing commitment to community outreach. Events like this highlight the strength of collaboration between local organisations, schools, and volunteers in promoting health and wellbeing across the town.
