SLIPPER DAY 2025 AND THE BIG SLEEP OUT

____________

SLIPPER DAY 2025

SLIPPER DAY

On Friday, 7th March, Warminster School will be holding a Wear your Slippers to School Day, a nationwide initiative organized by EveryYouth to combat youth homelessness. Pupils and staff are encouraged to wear their favourite slippers or silly slippers, to school & donate £2 to support the cause. This event aims to raise awareness and funds for the 136,000 young people in the UK who faced homelessness last year. By holding a Slipper Day, we are supporting EveryYouth which is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting young people aged 16 to 25 who are facing homelessness. Their mission is to empower these individuals by providing access to mental health support, facilitating meaningful employment opportunities, and helping them secure stable housing. Recognizing that homelessness often stems from complex personal and systemic issues, EveryYouth collaborates with a network of regional organizations to deliver tailored, community-based services.

BIG SLEEP OUT

At Warminster School will be doing our very first BIG SLEEP OUT in support of EveryYouth- Open to current pupils only.

EveryYouth is a movement of the UK’s leading youth homelessness charities, helping to provide bright futures for vulnerable young people.

There are currently 129,000 young people facing homelessness in the UK. A staggering figure and one that has inspired us to do all that we can to help. On Saturday 8th March we invite our pupils to give up their beds for one night and sleep outside at the school to raise funds for young people facing homelessness across the UK. All information can be found on Firefly via the QR.

All we ask is, for your child a make a pledge to raise a minimum of £50, There will be limited spaces available, 10 pupils per year group can sign up, once we are full, we will close sign up.

This is a challenge that we hope our pupils will step up to, whilst raise money for a worthwhile cause. It will also allow time to think about other teenagers who don’t have the comfort of a loving & warm home.

We're aiming to raise £2,000.00. So far we've raised £2,751.90

EveryYouth is a small charity with a big impact. Our vision is a society where every youth is empowered to thrive. We do that by thinking and acting differently to other charities. By working with a specially selected Network of leading regional organisations, our small team can reach more than 20,000 young people facing homelessness. Our services are delivered by organisations embedded in their communities. There is no expensive head office, or one size fits all thinking. We facilitate local organisations to find solutions to local problems and then make those solutions available nationally. We are your gateway to supporting some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised young people across the UK.

Last year, 118,134 young people faced homelessness. Young people find themselves in this position through no fault of their own and lack the holistic support and opportunities they need to escape it.
